Bowling Gets Breakthrough Maiden Win at the Brickyard

DALLAS (June 18, 2025) - 20 year old Jett Bowling of Dallas, Texas had an excellent weekend of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, not only taking his first career win in Formula Regional Americas, but also following it up with a second place in the second race of the day Sunday. This puts him back into contention for the overall Championship after 8 races. He now sits fourth place behind the leader, his teammate Nicolas Ambiado of Chile, by just 14 points with 13 races still to go.

His team Kiwi Motorsport totally dominated the weekend again, sweeping both races with Kiwi drivers taking all the podium places as they extended their lead in the teams championship.

In race one Bowling had a front row start, but he found himself in a three-wide battle for the first corner with pole man and fellow Texan Brady Golan (Toney Driver Development) and Nicolas Ambiado of Chile, teammate to Bowling at Kiwi Motorsport. Bowling made a daring and calculated late braking maneuvre  on cold tyres around the outside of turn one to take the lead, which he never relinquished despite a mid race safety car backing the field up behind him. At the restart, Ambiado got alongside Bowling but couldn't pull off the overtake, allowing Bowling to march on to his first victory of the series by over 3 seconds, ahead of his two teammates Bruno Ribiero of Brazil and Nicolas Stati of Australia. Despite a mechanical problem late in the race, Ambiado nursed it home to fourth with Kiwi Motorsport taking all of the top-four places.

“I had a good start, but Ambiado shocked me," said Bowling. "In fact I almost pinched him as I didn't know he was there. Then going three wide with me on the outside is not the way to go on cold tyres. It was a struggle, but I obviously made it through.”

This is Bowling’s second season at the Formula Regional level, and while he has scored multiple podiums over that time, the win remained elusive until this weekend. It was made special by the fact that Jett carries the Ganassi name on his car and overalls, and they won this year’s Indy 500 with Alex Palau just a few weeks ago.

“It’s about time. There wasn't a doubt I could do it, I just needed my  mechanics to stay with me. The pressure is relieved with that win. I always knew I could, but now I proved I could," Bowling continued.

In race two Jett started third but got another blistering start and again took the hole shot and the lead of the race. For the rest of the race, he was in a 5 way battle at the front until Ambiado got the better of him to take the lead away with Jett settling for 2nd and a huge haul of points for the weekend.

"At the start I pretty much dumped the clutch and sent it and it gripped up," explained Bowling. "Ambiado played good defence, but I made a ballsy move which I don't think the team owner would have liked, but it was good.

“It was a great weekend, but we really needed it. We always knew podiums were a must after our unlucky weekend at Road America last time out. We did the job, we got that win and got that chip off our shoulder so now we know we can."

With the scheduled 3 races curtailed to two due to heavy rain, the series now goes back to back with Mid Ohio hosting 3 races this weekend.

I’m just proud of Jett," commented Garry Orton, team principal of Kiwi Motorsport. "We should have had a couple of wins already with him and we probably as a team let him down, but this time he really showed his worth, especially with the restart which he couldn't have done better. So I’m super proud of him and the rest of the boys to finish all in the top 4.  They were close, they were clean, gave each other room and put on a bloody good show.”

To top off the weekend, Bowling was awarded with a limited edition Omologato watch celebrating the famous Brickyard for the best performer of the series at Indy, giving Bowling all the impetus he needs going into the Mid Ohio weekend.
