With a cloudy sky as the field assembled on the pre-grid, conditions quickly changed when the lights went out. Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) led the field down the starting block and lined up with an open grid position next to him, as Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) was delayed leaving the pre-grid. Nicolas Stati (No.15 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) and Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) composed the second row, while Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) followed in fifth.
During the opening lap, Ambiado and Ribeiro both made hay, moving into second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Connor Roberts (No. 46 Apexspeed.com / Entropy Cellars / Atlantic Racing Team with Team Roberts Ligier JS F3) had climbed to fourth from his seventh-place starting position, and Brady Golan (No. 80 Attire / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) filed in to round out the top five before the field was slowed for a full-course caution as a car went off in Turn 1.
Rain started to fall around the 4.048-mile facility, and with significant moisture building around parts of the track, the race director utilized the opportunity to declare the race a “wet race” and bring all cars down pit lane to switch to Hankook rain tires. With the tread needed to navigate the iconic road course, cars pulled back on track to contest the second half of the race under green-flag conditions.
Sherlock once again defended the point position, expertly leading the field through the restart. Ambiado’s pace was slowed in Turn 5, as he went off track, sustaining minor damage to his Ligier JS F3 before continuing on the circuit. The incident allowed Ribero, Roberts and Golan to climb in the running order as the field raced toward the checkered flag.
When they crossed the finish line, Sherlock led the way, with Ribeiro, Roberts, Golan and Stati completing the top five.

“The weather didn’t make it easy,” said Sherlock atop the podium. “The first half lap of the race, it was raining and we were on slicks, so it was tough. We got to switch tires and had a few laps at the end, which was quite good. The track conditions were still changing—one side of the track to the next was different, and then lap after lap, it was different, as well. We just had to get through it and survive, which we did. The team did a great job with the car and we were quite fast, so I was happy to get it done today.”
FR Americas is back on track this afternoon at 5:25 p.m. CT for Race 2 from the Road America SpeedTour. The event will stream live on SpeedTour.TV, and live timing and scoring will be available on the Race Monitor app. Additional news and updates from the weekend will be posted on the series’ Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
