San Antonio Driver Jake Pollack has Extensive Winter Testing Program to Prepare for 2025 Formula Regional Americas Season
November 26, 2024 - Looking to take another big step towards his ultimate objective of becoming a paid professional race car driver, JENSEN sophomore driver Jake Pollack is set for a full season piloting the team's No. 1 Ligier F3 car in the 2025 Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) season.
18-year-old Pollack enjoyed a successful rookie season competing in four different championships across the United States. To kick-off his 2024 customized driver development program, he competed in his first-ever car race at Homestead Miami Speedway in February where he achieved a seventh-place finish in the Sunday finale.
Soon thereafter, Pollack made his debut racing in the Ligier JS F4 Series at the season-opening race at New Orleans Motorsports Park in April where he once again achieved a seventh-place finish in the Sunday finale.
He competed in three more race weekends of the inaugural Ligier JS F4 Series—racing at the high-speed Road America circuit in May, where he made his first podium appearance scoring a third-place finish. Pollack once again scored a podium result at the next round at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in June with a stellar wet-weather drive, scoring another third-place result and moving into fifth in the 2024 season points championship.
July 2024 was another big milestone in the young driver's development, as he began testing in the significantly-faster Ligier F3 race car, starting with two test days at New Jersey Motorsports Park near Philadelphia. Powered by a 303-horsepower turbo-charged engine, the Ligier F3 race car is capable of speeds over 160 mph. By comparison, the F3 car is roughly 30 mph faster than the normally aspirated Ligier JS F4 race car.
With a view to fulfilling licensing requirements, while also gaining racing experience driving the faster and heavier race car, Pollack competed in the F3 California race at Sonoma Raceway near San Francisco in September. Impressively quick all weekend, he scored a pair of race wins and also made multiple passes to show well that he could be ready to graduate to racing in the higher level Formula Regional Championship for the 2024 season finale at the Austin F1 circuit.
JENSEN team owner Eric Jensen commented, "There's so much for young drivers to learn in order to be competitive and safe racing at the F3 level. Jake rewarded all of the hard work made by our many crew members throughout the 2024 season running as high as fifth in the Formula Regional Americas season finale at Circuit of The Americas. It's exciting to see young people excel, especially when their key trait is diligence. With a well thought through winter testing program paired with Jake's talent and work ethic, it seems likely that Jake can challenge for the 2025 championship in his rookie season racing in the Formula Regional Americas Championship."
Formula Regional Americas is the top level American junior race series on the FIA Formula One Championship's young driver development ladder. JENSEN finished second in the 2023 Team Championship with Oliver Westling scoring two race wins at New Jersey and the Austin F1 track Circuit of The Americas.
The 2025 championship comprises eight race weekends at iconic American race circuits including Road America, Mid-Ohio, and the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ligier JS F3 are the specification race cars used in the championship, powered by 303 horsepower turbo-charged engines and Hankook racing slicks.
