Ryan Shehan and Hayden Bowlsbey Pace Practice at the NOLA SpeedTour

AVONDALE, La. (March 10, 2023) – The 2023 Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda (FR Americas) season opened with two official practice sessions today at NOLA Motorsports Park, with Ryan Shehan and Hayden Bowsbey each leading a session.

Moving up to FR Americas after challenging for the title in Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda last season, Ryan Shehan (No. 66 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) topped the charts for practice on Friday morning at NOLA Motorsports Park. With a 0.452-second advantage, Shehan led series newcomer Callum Hedge (No. 17 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) and Oliver Westling (No. 1 JENSEN Ligier JS F3), who is coming off a career-best second-place finish in last year’s season finale at Circuit of The Americas. Nick Persing (No. 29 OPI Commercial Builders Inc. Ligier JS F3) was fourth, as he works double duty this weekend, also competing in Blue Marble Radical Cup North America. Bryson Morris (No. 39 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) rounded out the top five in his FR Americas debut weekend.

Racing at his home track, Hayden Bowlsbey (No. 3 Save22 Ligier JS F3) led second practice on Saturday afternoon, beating second-place Cooper Becklin’s (No. 19 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) time by 0.131-second. Shehan was third, followed by Hedge and Westling.

FR Americas will qualify tomorrow at 10:55 a.m., with lights out for Race 1 scheduled for 4:15 p.m. CT. Fans at NOLA Motorsports Park will have an opportunity to meet the stars of FR Americas, as they participate in a Fan Q&A session on the first floor of the Event Center at 2:30 p.m. CT.
