Persing and Stephen Cameron Racing set to do double duty to kick off 2023
March 3, 2023 – It will a busy event for Nick Persing next weekend as the now 19-year-old, who is already confirmed for the Pro 1500 class at the Blue Marble Radical Cup North America program in 2023, is doubling up on his efforts to do battle in the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda. Partnering with Stephen Cameron Racing in both programs, Persing will hit the track next Thursday at NOLA Motorsports Park and rarely take his helmet off throughout the four-day event.
“There is no alternative for seat time, and I think this is the best way to show that I just love being in a race car,” expressed Persing. “To be able to compete in both open wheel and sportscars on the same weekend and within the same team is something that I only hope can reap huge rewards when the main event checkered flags fly.”
A front-runner in the FR Americas program in 2022 with Team Champions TJ Speed, Persing will take his talents to a new outfit in Stephen Cameron Racing, owned and operated by Steve Cameron. With a storied career in Grand-Am, SRO, and IMSA competition, as well as Formula Atlantic with Lynx Racing, team owner Steve Cameron has been instrumental in the development of numerous stars including former IndyCar driver Patrick Carpentier, ‘super-sub’ Memo Gidley, Alex Barron, Indianapolis 500 Champion Buddy Rice, Michael Valiante, Daytona 500 Winner Michael McDowell, Bryan Sellers, and Porsche Penske Motorsport driver Dane Cameron – who happens to be Cameron’s nephew. Now, Cameron is looking to add Persing to that list of graduates.
“Nick is a great talent and I think he can do well in whatever he is driving,” added Cameron. “He proved his speed in the FR car in 2022 earning seven podium results, and I hope that I can help him be a winner in it in 2023. I am confident that our Radical Cup program will be top shelf, so we are looking forward to a strong season together.”
Nick Persing and Stephen Cameron Racing will be on track next week, March 9-12, at NOLA Motorsports Park just outside of New Orleans Louisiana.
