July 26, 2022 – With the second half of the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda season set to begin this weekend, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport driver Dylan Tavella is aiming to make a run at the series title. Currently second in the championship point standings, Tavella will look to his home race at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) this weekend to put some pressure on his competition.
With one win and six podium results to his credit, Tavella is 58 points behind the championship leader with nine races remaining. Officially just crossed over the hallway point of the eighteen race calendar, Tavella has finished all nine wheel-to-wheel races in the top-five and is one of only two drivers to do so.
“We have had a good year to date but to make a run at the series title we will need a few more wins,” explained Tavella. “The New Jersey Motorsports Park is the facility that is closest to my hometown and home event for me. I will have a lot of family and friends in attendance and hope they can celebrate with me on the top step of the podium.”
In a jam-packed weekend that will feature three races, a maximum of 75 points are available if a driver can earn all three victories over the weekend.
Tavella added, “That is the goal. Three wins and three pole positions. It has been done in the past, and I want to accomplish that this weekend.”
Tavella and the rest of the FR Americas Powered by Honda competitors will hit the track on Thursday for a Promoters Test Day prior to more practice on Friday. Qualifying and race one will go green on Saturday before races two and three take to the track on Sunday.
