Two Podiums for Dylan Tavella at Road America
May 25, 2022 Taking on the 4.014-mile, 14-turn Road America facility, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport driver Dylan Tavella left the second event weekend of the 2022 season second in the championship points chase. Taking on the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda, Tavella earned three top-five results, including a pair of podiums as the series now has six races in the books.

“Good weekend for me despite losing some points in the championship,” explained Tavella. “Sometimes if you can’t win, it is all about being consistent and so far, we have shown that this year and again this weekend. We will be ready to win at Mid-Ohio in June.”

With a few test sessions leading into the Saturday morning qualifying run, Tavella had proven that he would be a contender as he weas near the top of the results sheets. With cold weather in the forecast and some difficult conditions, the New York resident and second year FR driver clocked the third fastest time in qualifying to line up on the inside of row two for the first wheel-to-wheel action of the weekend.

“Race one was great for us as I was able to move into second and earn my first podium of the weekend in second,” added Tavella. “Race two was much of the same as I was aiming to better my performance but managed to still stand on the podium in third. Two podiums in two attempts shows the strength of our program and the consistency that I have as a driver.”

Round three on Sunday afternoon would be the only blemish on Tavella’s weekend results as he fell down the running order but recovered to cross the line in fourth. Despite three finishes in the top-five and losing a few points in the championship battle, Tavella remains focused and confident.

“I have a great team behind me, and I know we can win,” the New York resident continued. “I have been taught that when I don’t have the pace to win, to secure the best result possible and that is what I did this weekend. On to the next one.”

Tavella will need to wait one month for his next FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda opportunity at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course over the June 23-26 weekend.
