TJ Speed Enters Mid-Ohio Event Ahead the Team and Driver Championship Standings

With six of eighteen rounds in the FR Americas Championship Powered by Honda behind them, TJ Speed is heading to Lexington, Ohio and the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course as both the Team and Driver Championship Leaders. With five wins and eight podiums in their rookie season, the Brownsburg, Indiana based program will look to add to their season totals at the 2.4-mile 15-turn facility.

Leading the charge into Ohio will be five-time race winner in 2021 Kyffin Simpson, who has a strangle hold on the championship table after only six races. With seventy points more than his closest rival, Simpson looks to continue his winning ways and run the tables this season. Varun Choksey sits fourth in the championship standings and is coming off a double podium weekend at Road America that helped catapult him up the championship running order. A scant three points out of the second position, Choksey aims to continue his momentum at Mid-Ohio.

Canadian Logan Cusson has one podium to his name in 2021 and sits seventh in the championship after a weekend at Road America that he is putting behind him. With a sixth place result the only bright spot of his trip to Wisconsin, Cusson is anxious and excited to get back to a track that he has some experience on as he aims to find his way back to the podium.

French driver and North American newcomer Baptiste Berthelot sits ninth in the points battle but has managed to score at least one point in five of six races this season. As a rookie in the FR Americas program, Berthelot is seeing the United States facilities for the first time on race weekends and is learning as he progresses through the 2021 season.

With all of the success this season, TJ Speed sits atop the Team Championship point standings with 214 points, 84 markers more than their closest competition.

“If you would have told me that we had five wins and eight podiums after six races in our rookie season I would have called you a liar,” explained Tim Neff. “It has been an awesome ride so far and I hope that we can continue the momentum that we have built. A huge thank you to our drivers, coaches, and families for all the help and support.”

With a pair of Promoters Test Days taking place on Wednesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 24, qualifying will take place on Friday as rounds seven, eight and nine will take the green flag over Saturday and Sunday as the season reaches the halfway point.
