Lundqvist Continues Perfect Qualifying Record At Sebring

Linus Lundqvist continued his perfect qualifying record with a fast time, adding another pole position to his growing list of Formula Regional Americas accolades at Sebring International Raceway on Saturday. While Lundqvist will start from what has been his customary starting position, the field behind him made it difficult for him to reach that status.

Using a signature Global Racing Group strategy that has yet to played this season, Lundqvist stayed parked in pit lane for the first portion of the 35-minute qualifying session to save his Hankook tires from the rough Sebring surface. With about 25 minutes left on the clock, Lundqvist drove his No. 26 JULA/Paytrim/Stenhaga from from the pitbox and went to work. On his final lap, the Global Racing Group rookie set his personal best lap with a time of 2:00.967-seconds. He was the only driver to edge into the 2:00 minute mark.

David Malukas posted an early lead before being shuffled down the order. Pushing for his first pole-position start, the HMD Motorsports rookie set a 2:01.164-second flyer on the last lap, just 0.197-seconds off Lundqvist's pace. Malukas will start second in Sebring's opening round.

Also setting their person best times on the final circuit were Row 3 starters Danial Frost (2:01.458-seconds) and Joshua Car (2:01.600-seconds).

Newman Wachs Racing driver Victor Franzoni (2:01.661-seconds) held the point before being knocked down by Lundqvist and by the last lap found himself going from a second-place start to starting fifth for Race 1 sharing Row 4 with Jacob Abel (2:01.885-seconds).
