James Roe Jr. Becomes Ambassador for Asthma and Allergy Network

Roe to bring asthma visibility to motorsports paddock

August 27, 2020 - James Roe Jr., who currently competes in the FR Americas Powered by Honda Championship, arrived in the United States in 2018 determined to compete at the highest level of motorsport racing. Already a success in Ireland and the United Kingdom, Roe quickly made his mark in the United States motorsports paddock by winning races at Watkins Glen, Virginia International Raceway, Road America and New Jersey Motorsport Park. Living with asthma all of his life, James Roe Jr. has now partnered with the Asthma and Allergy Network to become a Brand Ambassador and increase awareness around the world.

Continuing to chase his dream of competing in the Indianapolis 500, Roe wants to help raise awareness of asthma, a condition he has had since he was five years old. He put Allergy & Asthma Network's logo on his race car to give asthma greater visibility and will carry this logo for the rest of 2020 and onwards into 2021 as he looks to educate and provide answers to other asthma sufferers.

"Allergy & Asthma Network is excited to work with James on raising awareness of asthma. Together we want to send the message that people with asthma can pursue and achieve their dreams and not be slowed down or get stuck at a pit stop. James's experience growing up with the chronic disease is a great example of how avoiding triggers and taking the right medication at the right time can help you live a full, active life with asthma. We are also thrilled that James agreed to place the Allergy & Asthma Network logo on his race car so that racing fans around the world can learn more about asthma and how to find practical, medically accurate information about the disease," says Tonya Winders, President and CEO of Allergy & Asthma Network.

"I'm honored to be an ambassador, and this is only the first step for me. Having lost a family member to asthma many years ago and living with it all my life, I want to bring awareness to asthma sufferers through my motorsports efforts. Most people have no idea that asthma impacts more than 25 million people in the United States and over 339 million people worldwide. I really want to put together a workshop for children with asthma, complete with an "at-the-track" experience," explained James Roe Jr. "When I tell people I have asthma, many are surprised. Too many kids believe they can't do certain things because of their asthma. Then they meet me, they see I'm in a high-adrenaline sport driving a race car 180 miles per hour, and they think, 'He has asthma too, so why can't I follow my dreams?' We have the perfect platform and fan base to make this program a huge success, so I am excited about starting to raise awareness."
