Mathias Soler-Obel Rejoins Velocity Racing Development for Sophomore F3 Americas Season
Race winner set to make charge for 2020 title
Fresh off a successful rookie campaign in the F3 Americas Championship Powered by Honda series, Mathias Soler-Obel has confirmed his bid for the 2020 title. Rejoining Velocity Racing Development with support from primary partner Equiderm Management for his sophomore season, the 2019 race winner becomes an instant threat for the series title as he looks to continue his climb up the VRD motorsports ladder.

"Mathias had a good rookie season and should be one of the drivers to beat in the upcoming season," expressed Dan Mitchell. "We had a few issues at the beginning of the 2019 season that we were able to overcome and from that point on, Mathias was one of the more consistent drivers. We have worked hard as a team to develop the car, driver and overall program and feel we can make a confident bid at the 2020 championship."

Providing the VRD outfit with their first career F3 Americas Powered by Honda victory, Soler-Obel had a career weekend at Road America back in the middle of 2019. Scoring a triple podium weekend including the team's and his own first F3 Americas victory, Soler-Obel put together a string of six podium results to catapult his way up the point standings to the third position by the final checkered flag of the season. After scoring points in only one of the first five races, the rookie driver came into his own starting race six and garnered at least two points per race in the final eleven events of the year. Additionally, Soler-Obel was a major factor in Velocity Racing Development securing the Team Vice-Championship at the end of the 2019 season.

"I learned a lot last year and will put that knowledge to good use in 2020," added Soler-Obel. "My goals have always been to win and podium, so those will not change as we enter a new season, but I do have my eyes on the championship and there is no better program than VRD to try and achieve that goal."

Mitchell added, "I am expecting big things from Mathias as he has the drive to succeed and now with a year under his belt, has the experience to grow. We will be testing a lot in this off season which will only aid in his efforts in 2020."

Set to run a full stable of drivers in both the F3 Americas Powered by Honda and the F4 United States Powered by Honda Championships, Velocity Racing Development will continue with their driver announcements and other announcements in the coming days and weeks.
